Case preview

Client: manufacturer of unmanned systems

Industry: Aerospace & Defense / Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Business objective/client goal: To provide a centralized platform for integrated management of production, supply chain, R&D (Research and Development), and finance.

Result: The company now operates on a single integrated Odoo platform, which provides complete control over production processes and warehouse inventory management. It also has effective financial accounting and transparent coordination of R&D and the supply chain.

We had a problem to solve

The client approached us with a need to streamline inventory management, minimize warehouse stock, and obtain accurate product cost calculations. At the same time, we were tasked with unifying and optimizing complex operational processes, including R&D, multi-site manufacturing, supply chain, and financial control.

What strategy did you choose?

To implement Odoo, we chose a phased approach with a focus on integrating key business modules. This strategy allowed us to adapt the system to the specific needs of the company, ensuring a smooth transition from existing processes to the new system. Gradual implementation allowed us to carefully configure each module without interrupting operations.

Step-by-step implementation plan

To achieve the project goals, we implemented a number of Odoo modules covering the most important areas of the business. Let us tell you more about these modules and how each of them has influenced the company's further work.

What did you do?

Multi-Level BOMs

We configured the system to work with complex, nested specifications with version support. This enabled the company to effectively manage the structure of products where components are part of several end products, and changes in one element are automatically reflected in all dependent items.

R&D (Projects & Timesheets)

We organized research and development processes within a single environment where all activities are recorded as projects with time spent.

Inventory & Purchase

We set up an inventory management system for the warehouse using reordering rules that take into account the specifics of supply, including packaging frequency. Production was also switched to a just-in-time principle, which synchronizes purchases with actual demand.

Granular financial control

We have implemented detailed financial analytics that allow us to calculate the cost price for specific batches, contracts, or production orders. We have also implemented the ability to allocate additional costs, including R&D, logistics, and administrative expenses, directly to production.

Why is was important?

Multi-Level BOMs

For an industry that operates in an environment of constant engineering change and rapid innovation, this flexibility is critical. Specification versioning allows you to accurately track change history and effectively manage product modification production, reducing the risk of errors and wasted resources.

R&D (Projects & Timesheets)

The company gained the ability to seamlessly transition from prototype to series production, transparent resource planning, and accurate R&D cost calculation. This allows development costs to be included directly in the cost of production.

Inventory & Purchase

This approach has enabled the company to significantly reduce inventory levels, avoid excess purchases, and free up working capital. Stocks are no longer accumulated but are purchased only when they are actually needed for production.

Granular financial control

The company has acquired a strategic financial management tool that enables it to accurately assess the profitability of individual products or contracts, make informed decisions, and manage costs effectively.

Results and conclusions

In summary, the implementation of ERP Odoo has significantly improved management efficiency and business process transparency. A single integrated platform has created a solid foundation for the company's development and scaling, allowing it to quickly adapt to market changes, launch new products, and expand production without losing control or quality. In addition, the company saves significant time on management and operational tasks.

Key conclusions: what the client gained as a result of implementing the Odoo system

  • A strategic platform for managing all operational activities—all key processes are integrated into a single system. Management gets a complete picture of the business and can make decisions based on accurate data.
  • Transparency at all levels of management. Detailed financial data, cost analysis, inventory control, and production resource management are now available in real time.
  • Controlled scaling. The Odoo system makes it easy to implement changes in the product range, configure new product modifications, manage multi-level specifications, and adapt production processes to new requirements.
  • Reduction of excess inventory and optimization of purchasing. Thanks to automated replenishment rules and a just-in-time model, the company has freed up working capital and reduced warehousing costs.
  • Integration of R&D into the production and financial model. Developments are accounted for, controlled, and directly impact product costs.

Thanks to the implementation of a comprehensive solution based on Odoo, the company has increased its competitiveness in the market. The tools provided ensure flexibility, transparency, and efficiency, which are key factors for successful scaling and stable development in the long term.
